Ya’at’eeh/ Oki/ Hello, My name is Luke Alex Hunt, I am  half Diné (Navajo) - half Kainai (Blood). I was raised on the Navajo Nation in a small community in Dilkon near Winslow, Arizona. I accredit my Navajo and Blood roots for shaping my identity in becoming a vessel towards my Indigenous communities of the North and South.

My journey with a camera began young on our family vacation trips, upon realization that my mother was rarely in our family photos because she was taking them. Since then, it's been a personal obligation of inclusion; that everyone and anyone is welcomed within my frame.

I fortunately was a recipient  of the 2015 Gates Millennium Scholarship and attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ However I dropped out in the Fall of 2017 due to family and fianical  stress.

In early 2018, with no sense of real direction, I grew motivation from the movie Black Panther, to take an interest in screenwriting classes. While attending Pima Community College, my head instructor saw the potential of my eyes, and pushed me into becoming a filmmaker as a whole. Persevering through the Pandemic, I finished the Digital Arts Program in 2022.

I have developed 6 years of experience helping revitalize the Tucson Film Community with a Native American presence, from working as A Production Assistant to Directing & Producing my own projects. However, the more and more I was on set I came across another realization in my work and mental health; I missed my home, community, and land.

I am now currently residing on the Navajo Nation taking care of my family and my mental health. I am now facing new ground with intentions to teach and grow an Indigenous Film Crew, Actors, and Photographers to collaborate with on future projects.   I am finishing up my first feature length documentary about Dr. Adrienne Ruby, The Rez Vet, A Veterinarian who came to  the Navajo/Hopi Reservation over 40+ years ago to set up her practice and has become a community jewel ever since, and now facing her biggest challenge yet- retirement.

When I don't have a camera by my side, I am working as A Residential Assistant at my local community school. When I'm not at work I'm playing basketball,  hiking new locations, practicing my archery, or enjoying a nice walk with my four furry dogs (Willie, Krypto, Polar and Skylar) I am now in pursuit of learning Steer Wrestling, like my father was.
